Titanshockey Q & A with Guy Taylor

Guy Taylor

Defenseman Guy Taylor skates with passion and fluidness, which his teammates confuse him with Guy Lafleur on the ice. When not flashing his skating skills, he likes planting trees and flowers. Titanshockey.com caught up with Guy to learn more about him off the ice.

How did you become a Titan?

Guy Taylor: Because I got kicked off the Tailgate team for yelling to much, then Andy took me under his wing.

What do you like best about playing hockey?

GT: The competition within me knowing I can do better and help the team but my legs think otherwise.

Which NHL player do you think your style of play is most patterened after and why?

GT: Sandis Ozolinsh, doesnt put the puck in the net alot as a defensive player but reads plays very well. As for me, I played defense last summer and found my self more able to help our team ( Blades of Glory-RMHL ) make a run in the playoffs.

What is one thing about you, if known by everyone else on the team, would be a source of constant ridicule in the locker room?

GT: Not sure, dont think people know me all that well. I have been able to keep my mouth shut, so my great skating ability I guess.

Which fellow Titan do you think would be the most fun to hang out in a bar with? Why?

GT: Maybe Bill, since I dont talk much and Bill never shuts his mouth I wouldnt get bored or Matt Rush probably because he doesnt talk much either.

What's one thing you think the Titans could do to improve our team for the rest of the season?

GT: Everybody showing up, knowing what you are up against and knowing when you should be out there or not. By this time in the season each player knows there weaknesses and mistakes they have made so just like last season its time for the final 8 game run.

Do you have any pregame rituals?

GT: Having my twins wish me luck.

What number do you wear and why?

GT: 71, because Andy gave it to me. I hate odd numbers. 4 is my favorite but dont see that coming anytime soon. So 44 would be great.

What is your favorite NHL team?

GT: Toss up between the Avs and the Senators.

What's a goal of yours for the rest of the season?

GT: If playing offense, to start putting the puck in the net, havnt been to happy with the way I have been playing. Tired of holding back because of my leg. Would like to play D for a game and be paired up with Matt Rush.
