Chiefs End Titans Playoff Run

(Centennial, CO) - The Rocky Mountain Titans kept the game close during the first two periods as it was tied 2-2 going into the third. That was until the Chiefs scored two unanswered goals early in the third period and then applied defensive pressure to hold for the win 4-2.

That ended the momentum Titans seemed to be gaining after winning three straight in the lower playoff bracket. They lost their first playoff game against the Ice Breakers after finishing the season as the 2nd seed.

It didn't happen," said Chris Laramie, whose team missed going to league championship by one game. "We fell short."

The Titans pulled goalie Alex Martinez with two minutes remaining and failed to generate any goals with the man advantage.

Cameron Clemenson stopped 29 shots and helped his Chiefs to the league championship game.

Andy Munoz’s goal in the second period Wednesday night gave him 9 playoff goals for his career.

Yet all Munoz could think about was how close the team came to making an incredible late sprint in the playoffs.

"I think the guys grew together," he said. "We just have to build on it for next year."

Titans' Bob Husson still can't believe the Titans have been eliminated from the playoffs.

"It is mind boggling that we aren't in the league championship game," Husson said. "Not with the way we played down the stretch."
